Enhanced System Efficiency

Regular inspection and testing of solar PV systems ensure that each component is operating at peak efficiency. Over time, panels can accumulate dirt, debris, or sustain damage that can impede performance. By identifying and addressing these issues early through detailed inspections, you can maintain optimal energy output and ensure your system is delivering the maximum power possible, thereby improving overall efficiency and energy savings.

Extended System Lifespan

Consistent testing and maintenance play a critical role in prolonging the lifespan of solar PV systems. By catching potential problems early, such as inverter failures or wiring issues, and conducting routine maintenance, you reduce the risk of major breakdowns that can be costly and detrimental to the longevity of the system. This proactive approach helps safeguard your investment and ensures it continues to function effectively for years to come.

Increased Safety

Safety is paramount when it comes to electrical systems, and solar PV installations are no exception. Regular inspections help identify safety hazards like damaged wires, loose connections, or degraded components that could lead to electrical fires or other safety incidents. This routine scrutiny ensures that all parts of the solar array meet the required safety standards, protecting both the system and its operators.

Cost Savings on Repairs

Testing and inspecting solar PV systems can lead to significant cost savings by avoiding expensive repairs and downtime. Regular maintenance checks allow for the early detection of minor issues before they evolve into major complications that require extensive and costly interventions. This not only saves money in the short term but also enhances the system’s reliability and reduces unexpected financial burdens over the life of the solar installation.

Common questions

It’s recommended to have a professional inspection and performance check at least once a year. However, the frequency can vary based on the system’s age, the environment in which it’s located, and manufacturer recommendations.

An inspection typically includes checking the solar panels, inverters, mounting racks, and electrical connections for any signs of damage or wear. It also involves performance tests to ensure the system is producing the expected amount of energy.

Common issues include cracked panels, corroded connections, loose mounting hardware, and inverter malfunctions. Regular inspections help in detecting these issues early, which can be rectified before they lead to system failure or efficiency loss.

All our electricians are highly qualified, meeting the following standards at a minimum:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Installing Electrotechnical Systems & Equipment
  • C&G 2919-01 Certification
  • BS7671:2018 Wiring Regulations (18th Edition, Amendment 2)

Additionally, all work is tested and certified by an engineer with a 2391-52 Inspecting & Testing qualification.

We proudly serve the entire Bristol area, as well as South Gloucester, South Wales, Bath, and Gloucester. Our typical service area extends within a 30-mile radius from our office (BS32), ensuring prompt and efficient service for all local clients.

For larger commercial projects, we are more than willing to travel beyond this distance to accommodate your needs and deliver our top-notch solar solutions wherever they are required.

While visual inspections can be performed by the system owner, electrical and performance tests should be conducted by a certified professional. This ensures accurate results and adherence to safety standards.
